We used today to get caught up on work and watch a Halloween movie. Enjoy!
Test Reminder! This Thursday we will be reviewing the curriculum from the last 8 weeks and we will complete a review sheet to take home and study from. On Friday, we will take the test via computers. In the event you do not perform as well as you had planned I will be offering a "test re-take". I will inform you regarding the dates for the retake. This Physical Science Final will be worth 300 points, which is a substantial amount toward your grade, so please remember to look over your review sheets. If you have any questions please email me! We will be taking a Unit Test on everything we have talked about and had quizzes on in our Physical Science Unit next week. In order to prepare for that final, we did a review, color by number style today. If you were absent, use the notebook tab for information to help you complete the assignment.
Physical Science Unit Review
Click on the Conservation of Mass website link below.
Click on Introduction. Click on the arrow by tools, click on the scale icon. Add ONE of each molecule to begin. Continue adding molecules on either side of the equation until there are the same number of atoms on each side. Repeat the same steps for Separate Water and Combust Methane. Click Game icon on the bottom of the screen. Click on Level 1. Repeat the previous steps adding molecules until both sides balance. Click the Check button when you are finished. If it doesn't balance, click the show why button to see the scale. Click Try again. Continue with Levels 2 and 3. We introduced the Conservation of Mass today. The law says that matter cannot be created or destroyed, so in a chemical reaction the same kind and number of elements that go in must be the same number and kind of elements that come out. Copy the notes into your notebook, then practice with the following equations.
We reviewed atoms today and learned how to count them using subscripts and coefficients. . Use the notes below for the rules of subscripts and coefficients to help you with the assignment.
Counting Atoms Assignment Page 2 of Assignment We worked on research for our Science Education Fair projects today. We started answering the who, what, when, where and why questions about our topics.
Go to google classroom and click on the Science Education Fair Research Background assignment. DON'T CLICK THE TURN IT IN BUTTON! We will work on it again tomorrow. **While you are doing your research, if you see any cool pictures, graphs, charts, etc. that you might want to included on your display board, copy and paste it right to your document. **Also, be sure to copy and paste the websites you get your information from so you can cite them for the research paper. Today we wrote our exothermic and endothermic energy notes in our notebooks. When you retrurn to class, get my notebook and copy the notes into your notebook. Exothermic = Energy (heat, sound or light) EXITS from the reaction Endothermic = Energy (usually heat) is ABSORBED into the reaction We also took our Quiz 8.1.5 today. We used our plicker cards in class but if you were absent, just answer the questions on a separate sheet of paper. Quiz 8.1.5 Another Lab day today! Today, we looked at endothermic and exothermic reactions to see how energy was transferred in two different reactions. If you were absent, read through the lab and use the following data to complete your lab sheet.
Hot and Cold Pack Lab Sheet We were in the lab again today looking at how adding or taking away heat changes the rate of a reaction. If you were absent use the following data to complete the lab.
Room Temp: 23 degrees C and dissolved in 42 seconds. Hot: 82 degrees C and dissolved in 26 seconds. Cold: 12 degrees C and dissolved in 95 seconds Add or Subtract Lab Sheet |
WHAT WILL I FIND HERE?EVERY DAY, you will find a post about what has happened in class, as well as book scans, videos, scanned documents, etc. ANYTIME you are absent for any reason OR need additional information for the day you will LOOK HERE! Blog Posts
